    Add workpieces

Open the downloaded twin project SortingMachine from the tutorials folder.

For simplicity, the CAD model of the complete assembly has already been imported.

This chapter will demonstrate how to import additional CAD files or manually create simple geometries such as boxes.

    Importing the first CAD file

In the first step, we import the long workpiece. To do this, we select the desired STEP file and initiate the import. Afterwards, we move the workpiece to the beginning of the conveyor belt, color it red, and place it into the prepared folder.

    Create simple geometries

Next, we create a second workpiece — a short box. In theory, we could import this as well. However, in this context, I would like to demonstrate that such simple geometries can also be created directly within Twin.

To do this, we click the Create a new cube button and define the dimensions of the box. In this context, we can also perform a rough initial positioning. Afterwards, we assign a color to the object and move it into the designated group.

    Next

In the next chapter, we will add the workpieces and surrounding elements to the physics simulation.
