101: A Three Axis Gantry Robot - Or my very first look at twin

    Infobox
    Level Beginner
    Duration approx. 30 minutes
    Prerequisites twin Professional (Installation instructions)

In this tutorial you will learn the basic concepts behind the simulation software twin. With a practical but yet simple application, you will learn how to build a digital twin of a machine from the scratch. Together we will

    1. import the CAD model of an existing machine
    2. re-arrange assemblies to create kinematic chains of moving objects
    3. add sensors and actors to the machine
    4. add a script to create a simple controller for the machine

You will build a three axis portal robot which picks boxes from position A and stack them on position B. The final machine will look like this:

    Note

Please note that this is a very basic tutorial. We will not use the whole range of functionality and we will make some simplifications which would make no sense in a real project. Nevertheless you will learn how easily you can create very complex machines with twin.
